Keynote lecture by Rosy Braidotti

Rosi Braidotti is a leading humanities scholar whose theoretical work at the intersection of philosophy and the political economy of knowledge has laid the foundations for a renewed humanism. Through her groundbreaking publications, Nomadic Theory (2011) and The Posthuman (2019), she has opened up new avenues for considering the role and relevance of the humanities in contemporary society.

This event will address several significant issues concerning the future of the humanities within the 21st-century knowledge ecosystem. Drawing on Braidotti's research over the last 20 years, we will discuss the importance of emerging fields such as environmental and digital humanities, as well as gender studies, to consider future prospects for the humanities and social sciences. Additionally, given the political attacks on the humanities, particularly in the United States, the event will propose ways to demonstrate the usefulness and relevance of the humanities in the current global geopolitical context.
